Lip Tattoo Pre & Post Care Instructions

  • 4 Weeks prior to treatment:

    • Avoid Botox and fillers around the lip area.

    • Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, dermabrasion, or any intense skincare treatments.

    • Discontinue Vitamin A/Retinols and anti-aging creams.

    2 Weeks prior to treatment:

    • Avoid all facials, peels, or waxings around the lip area.

    • Do not tan or sunburn your face.

    • Avoid becoming sick or having a compromised immune system.

    1 Week prior to treatment:

    • Avoid Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Naproxen (Tylenol/Acetaminophen is ok to consume).

    • Avoid fish oils, DHA supplements, cayenne supplements, turmeric, vitamin E, niacin (or anything that can cause blood thinning).

    • Avoid marijuana and smoking.

    • If any of the above are taken for medical purposes, please consult with your physician.

    • Keep lips hydrated with lip balm.

    • If you have ever had a cold sore, been prone to any type of cold sores (herpes simplex virus), or you may have the herpes simplex virus that lies dormant in your system, this procedure could cause an outbreak. It is best to consult with your doctor, and upon your doctor’s recommendation, take doctor-prescribed medication such as Acyclovir, Zovirax, or Valtrex before and after the lip procedure to help prevent or lessen the severity of an outbreak.

    1-3 Days prior to treatment:

    • Avoid alcohol, coffee, tea, or excessive caffeine consumption.

    • Gently exfoliate your lips 2 days prior to your procedure.

    • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.

      DAY OF PROCEDURE:

    • Do not work out the day of treatment.

    • Do not wear makeup around the lip area.

    • You are welcome to bring in lip colors or inspiration pictures of lip shapes or colors you prefer.

  • Please carefully read your post-care instructions as it is very important to the appearance and longevity of your lip blushing.

    Day 1:

    • After the treatment, lips may be dry, chapped, tight, and tender, possibly swollen and bright in color.

    • Apply light pressure with a paper towel for 4 hours following treatment in order to remove any excess lymph.

    • After 4 hours, apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment to keep lips moist.

    • Avoid kissing, rubbing, or friction on the treated area.

      Day 1-3:

    • Apply ointment several times a day, keep lips moist at all times.

    • Avoid oily, spicy, and heavily seasoned foods.

    • Rinse lips after meals, pat dry, and reapply ointment.

      Day 4-7:

    • Between these days, lips will begin and end the process of peeling, and color will lighten by 30%-60%.

    • Let lips naturally peel, do not pick or rub.

    • Keep lips moist at all times.

      Week 2:

    • Peeling is complete, lips are light. Resume normal routines. Healing continues for up to 6 weeks. Every week more color will surface, it is important to continue keeping lips moist to get the best color.

      Week 6-8:

    • Lips are fully healed, add gloss & go! A second session is strongly recommended to complete your lip blushing transformation.

    • Things to avoid during all 14 days post-treatment include:

      • Avoid sweating, sports, swimming, hot sauna, bath or jacuzzi, and UV exposure.

      • Do not use laser treatments, chemical products, or skincare containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area.

      • Do not touch the treatment area except for when applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab or washed hands.

    • Avoid areas of heavy airborne debris and open-air vehicles.

    • Do not drink alcohol excessively for faster healing.
