Saline removal is a gradual process that relies on your skin’s natural healing response. The treated area will go through stages of healing as pigment is lifted and the skin repairs itself. Proper aftercare is essential for supporting healthy healing and achieving the best possible results.
Immediately After Your Appointment
Following your treatment, the area should remain clean and open to the air. Allowing oxygen exposure supports the natural healing process.
Keep the treated area uncovered and avoid applying bandages or occlusive coverings.
Avoid touching the area unnecessarily.
Keep the area protected from anything that may introduce bacteria or irritation.
Healing Phase: Cleanse & Protect
During the healing period, gentle cleansing and allowing the area to naturally scab are essential.
Cleansing:
Gently cleanse the treated area 3–4 times daily using a clean, lint-free pad with antibacterial soap or saline solution as directed.
Lightly blot the area and avoid rubbing or disturbing the skin.
Allow the area to air dry naturally.
Healing:
Allow all scabbing to naturally shed on its own.
Do not pick, scratch, peel, or force scabs to come away, as this can interfere with the healing process and may increase the risk of scarring or uneven results.
Keep the area as dry as possible until all scabbing has naturally fallen away.
Water & Activity Guidelines
To protect the treated area while it heals:
Avoid soaking the area in water.
Shower as normal, but keep the treated area away from direct water pressure and avoid leaving it wet for extended periods.
If the area becomes wet, gently pat dry with a clean tissue.
Avoid swimming, baths, hot tubs, saunas, tanning, and activities that cause excessive sweating until fully healed.
After Scabbing Has Naturally Completed
Once all scabbing has fully and naturally fallen away:
Apply one drop of Vitamin E oil to the area 3–4 times daily for a minimum of 4 weeks, or until your next lightening session.
Do not begin using Vitamin E oil before all scabbing has completely healed.
Additional Lip Removal Care
If your saline removal treatment is performed on the lips:
Drink liquids through a straw until all scabbing has naturally healed.
Use a non-whitening, non-peroxide toothpaste during the healing period.
Take smaller bites when eating and avoid excessive stretching or friction of the lips.
Important Healing Information
Saline removal requires patience and realistic expectations. Lightening unwanted pigment is a gradual process, and results vary depending on factors such as pigment depth, saturation, color, placement, skin type, and how your skin responds to treatment.
Multiple sessions may be required to achieve your desired level of lightening. The number of sessions needed will be determined by your individual circumstances and healing response.
Results cannot be guaranteed or predicted, as every client’s skin and pigment history is unique.
A minimum of 8 weeks of healing is required before another lightening session can be performed. This allows your skin adequate time to fully recover and the results of the previous session to properly develop.
If you experience any concerns during your healing process, including unusual swelling, discomfort, or signs of infection such as yellow or green discharge, please contact the studio promptly.
Your patience and commitment to proper aftercare are an important part of the removal process.
